The California Rheumatology Alliance is a professional organization comprised of rheumatologists from community practices and medical centers throughout the state. The majority of our members come from the Northern California Rheumatology Alliance (NCRA), the Southern California Rheumatology Society (SCRS) and the San Diego Rheumatology Society (SDRS).
The mission statement of the CRA is Advocacy for Access to Rheumatology Care. We have been incorporated in the state of California since 2004 under 501c3 non-profit status. The CRA meets approximately once-a-year for an Annual meeting. These meetings are divided into two, half-day sessions devoted to the state-of-the-art science of rheumatology care and office management issues to enhance patient access to that care. Please check up-coming events and news and info on this website for further details.
The CRA was invited by the ACR to hold its first meeting during the San Francisco Conference in 2008. The mee ting room was packed as representatives from the CA Dept of Health care services, Blue Shield, Blue Cross and Palmetto sat at an open panel to answer questions from the audience. Members were subsequently given contact information for each of the Medical Directors. Future questions and complaints from the CRA membership were invited by Panel members. The meeting was a first step to establishing communications between Rheumatologists and Third Party Payors in California. We hope to repeat this format at future ACR Meetings.
